Gemma Moorhouse

Gemma has been a qualified nurse since 2008, originally working in adult cardiology services; she then moved to neonatal medicine in 2012 where she worked as a senior nurse. She later moved to a large tertiary neonatal unit where she completed studies to become an advanced neonatal nurse practitioner

(ANNP). Gemma continues to work in this unit alongside medical colleagues to provide all levels of care for neonatal patients with both surgical and medical needs.

As an ANNP Gemma is well placed to use her extensive knowledge to support both nursing and medical colleagues to provide gold standard care to those families in their unit. She is regularly involved in audit and quality improvement projects, as well as involvement in multidisciplinary mortality reviews.

In addition to her substantive role Gemma is a member of the Resuscitation Council, teaching on new-born life support; providing support and training to fellow healthcare workers to help them gain the skills and knowledge to deliver safe, effective, evidence based care. She is also a trustee for a charity whose aim is to support families affected by hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy.
