Cathy Stone
Cathy currently holds the post of Chief Nurse and Chief Midwife to the Government of Jersey Channel Islands. In addition, she chairs the Local Maternity and Neonatal Services Workforce and Education Forum (LMNS) for the Sussex Integrated Care Board. Cathy retired from the NHS in 2017, after holding the post of Chief Nurse across the South East coast for 17 years where she helped in leading organisations to both Foundation Trust and CQC outstanding status.
Since retiring, she has worked across the charity sector, as Chief Executive and Clinical Director for St Barnabas adult hospice, and Chestnut Tree children’s hospice in Sussex.
More recently, she has provided support to University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust in the position of Associate Nurse Director, undertaking roles relating to patient safety and the nursing and midwifery workforce. Cathy is a registered nurse and registered midwife with a specialist qualification in Neonatology and an MSc Healthcare Management. She has been a specialist advisor and has provided advice to the Nursing and Midwifery Council on various aspects of nursing care.
