Dr Julie Jones

Julie did her nurse training in Edinburgh in 1988 shortly followed by midwifery training in Blackpool. Julie has been a practising midwife since 1993 and a midwifery lecturer since 2014. Julie has worked in many areas throughout the UK, Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong. She also worked for Unicef in Denmark procuring and arranging the supply of medical supplies and vaccines. She was Bereavement Specialist Midwife at the Royal Berkshire Hospital from 2011-2014 before taking up a post as a maternity lecturer.

Julie is currently studying towards a Doctorate in Health Sciences looking at what knowledge, skills and abilities constitute competence in caring for bereaved parents experiencing stillbirth or neonatal death and how can these competencies be developed in student midwives undertaking the 3 year BSc(Hons) Midwifery programme. She is also Course Leader for London for the BSc (Hons) Midwifery 3 year course.
