Dr Elaine Hipwell
Elaine has been a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine at Frimley Park Hospital since 2011. Other main interests include multidisciplinary training, enhanced communication skills and learning from excellence. She is the clinical lead for obstetrics in intensive care and has a regular clinical commitment covering labour ward.
She qualified from St George’s Hospital Medical School in 1997. Subsequently she worked in adult medicine before changing specialities to anaesthesia. She trained as an anaesthetist in Scotland and on the Southwest London anaesthetic rotation. She undertook additional intensive care training on the pan London rotation. She dual accredited in anaesthesia and intensive care in 2011 and commenced her consultant role.
In her consultant post she has participated in serious incident investigation panels and chaired ICU M &M for several years. She feels incredibly privileged to assist in the Ockenden Maternity Review and hopes her contribution will help establish any learning points to help provide the highest quality of maternity care.
