I have been a Registered Midwife since 1983. I have spent 32 years as a Band 7 Midwife Team Leader and Maternity Unit Coordinator and Labour Ward Lead.
I have extensive knowledge of, experience and skills in high risk pregnancy and Intrapartum care. I am Clinical Lead on Perineal Trauma, perineal repair and female genital mutilation (FGM). I developed and run a weekly Perineal Clinic focused on women with obstetric and sphincter injuries, perineal trauma and FGM survivors.
On a daily basis I am the Unit Co-coordinator responsible for all aspects of the efficient and safe running of the Maternity Service. I lead the unit on a daily basis in the absence of senior management and am the lead for the management of complaints.
I regularly conduct debriefs for complex cases and have ongoing liaison with women and families. I have day to day responsibility for a team of midwives and maternity support workers which includes; appraisals, professional development, support and maintaining standards, quality and safety.
I am passionate about women’s experiences and safer outcomes for mothers, babies and families. I value the importance of education and training for midwives and the maternity team and act as a resource to all staff, including medical staff.
