Helen Knower
Initially training as a nurse Helen qualified as a midwife in 1987 and has worked in several midwifery roles across south east London NHS trusts. Much of Helen’s professional life has been working within patient safety and clinical governance. She is committed to ensuring learning from incidents to ensure that improving safety and experience is at the heart of everything we do. She has extensive experience working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and the Maternity Voices Partnership.
Helen has recently retired from her role as Director of Midwifery, which she has held since 2013, at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust and is now working part-time as Director of Quality at the Trust with responsibility for the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework with the aim of improving safety within the Trust. In addition to the above Helen is a special advisor for the Care Quality Commission with a responsibility for supporting maternity reviews.
