Zita Martinez
Zita joined the RUH in Bath recently from the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust where she was Head of Midwifery and Assistant Director of Nursing.
Zita is a Registered Midwife by profession, having qualified in 1994, and started her career in London on the labour ward at Kings College Hospital. This role enabled her to gain experiences she remembers to this day. Following experience at St Georges Hospital in London Zita then moved to the South West, taking on a variety of senior leadership roles over the years working in both acute and community services, until she was appointed Head of Midwifery and Assistant Director of Nursing for Specialist Services in 2016.
Recently Zita has also completed a master of business administration (MBA) in business and finance to further broaden and strengthen her academic portfolio. This has strengthened her business knowledge and skills.
Zita feels very strongly about compassionate, kind leadership and the importance of creating an environment where people have joy at work. She is also really passionate about ensuring colleagues at all levels of the organisation feel empowered in their roles to suggest improvements and make changes. Zita is keen to support her colleagues to develop their skills to be the best they can.
On a personal level Zita has been married to her husband Luke for 23 years and they have a daughter and son (21 and 18) as well as three miniature dachshunds Monty, Georgie and Basil!
