Review Update

Since the Review started in September 2022, 1,987 families have joined the Review. We have now held 189 individual family meetings.

The next Family Meeting will take place on Saturday 19th October, at the Mercure Nottingham Sherwood Hotel. If you would like to attend, you can either join us in the morning 10am-12, or in the afternoon 1-3pm. There will be a free to use creche service provided. Please confirm your attendance via email, and let us know if you’d like to use the creche: events@donnaockenden.com

This meeting will allow the Review team to give an update on the progress of the Review, give you the opportunity to ask questions in-person, and meet other families within the Review.

Charity of the Month – MASIC

We are always looking for different ways to support families who are part of the Review. September’s Charity of the Month is MASIC.

If you have suffered a maternal injury during childbirth the charity MASIC can support you.

MASIC is a UK charity supporting women who have suffered severe injuries during childbirth known as OASI (Obstetric Anal Sphincter Injuries) or 3rd and 4th degree tears.

Women who have sustained these injuries often suffer in silence. Seeking help can be difficult, and many GPs are unaware the problem exists. Many women who have sustained these injuries also experience postnatal depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

MASIC is run by injured women and healthcare professionals who are committed to better detection and prevention of injury during childbirth, and we are proud to have Donna Ockenden as our Patron.

The Review team have built a very good professional relationship with the media who have helped raise the profile of the Review, allowing more families to come forward thus increasing the support families are able to access.
